There was a flurry of activity on Commissioner Mitchell’s social media this weekend…including this gem. In his post, Mitchell admits to excluding the Board from the decision making process when he was approached by several organizations interested in purchasing property. In lieu of presenting the offers to the Board and letting them consider each request, Mitchell arbitrarily made the decision to reject all of the offers without following any kind of standard operating procedure.
Interestingly, rumors have been swirling all week about a potential vote at tonight’s meeting, to censure Mayor Warner for bringing the Lone Survivor Foundation’s presentation to the Board on June 4th. Commissioner Mitchell has used both social media, and local publications, to denounce Warner’s decision which he called ‘rogue’.
We will be submitting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the town manager, specifically requesting a list of all organizations who made offers to Commissioner Mitchell, as well all of his email and phone records from July 24th through August 2.
Have concerns about these issues? Contact the Board and let them know!
Editor’s note…as of April 8 2019 Mitchell has not provided the names of any of the non-profit organizations who supposedly contacted him in reference to buying lake bed #2.
