ACLU Responds –
In July 2018, Commissioner Mike Mitchell blocked me from his social media. I contacted the North Carolina branch of the ACLU for guidance. This very issue was being heard by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals who only recently rendered a decision.
It IS unconstitutional for elected officials to block the public from their social media accounts.
They asked me to forward any screen shots, from Commissioner Mitchell’s Facebook page from that time, that indicate I was blocked from the account.
I had conversations with several others who were blocked around that time, please email your screen shots and I’ll include them with my email to the ACLU
